Our Story

In the Fall of 1999 in a basement with nothing more than a boombox, a music stand for a pulpit, and a handful of faithful founding members, New Hope felt called to be a beacon of "Hope" to a world that is growing more and more cold to the Lord...
After meeting in the YMCA for 10 years, God gave us the ability, in 2012, to build a building in Plano, IL to call our "earthly" home.

We love God's word, we love God's people, and we love to tell people the Good News of the Gospel! We are REAL IMPERFECT people, who serve and worship the ONE & PERFECT GOD!

Pastor Dennis Cocks

Called to preach later in life and serving as an Associate/Youth Pastor for three years, Pastor Dennis along with wife Cathy and a few other faithful followers, felt moved by the Lord to start New Hope Baptist Church. Within 17 years New Hope moved from a home basement to meeting at the Plano YMCA to today preaching God's truth from the pulpit of our very own facility. This was a feat no other independent Baptist church had ever accomplished in the Plano community and we praise God for that! We praise God for using these wonderful people, Dennis & Cathy, as key figures and companions for our walks with Christ.

Why New Hope?

Have you been searching for a local church? Even in a less "Christian" world, churches are a dime/dozen. So what makes New Hope unique?

# 1 - Biblically Rooted - "Thus Sayeth the Lord"

In a world where the authority of God's word has been watered down to fit a culture that is increasingly ungodly, New Hope stands firm on the foundation of God's perfect word untainted by religious traditions and political correctness. New Hope is not in the business of "scratching itchy ears," but preaching the whole word of God from Genesis to Revelations. ALL scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

# 2 - Gospel Oriented - "It's All About You, Jesus!"

Though discipleship to be more Christ-like is the goal, first and foremost our job is to introduce the world to the amazing grace and love of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. That's where it starts. It's very rare that the presentation of the Gospel (how one is to be saved from coming judgement) , is not given in every sermon/message preached. Throughout the old testament and new testament the "scarlet thread" points to the LOVE Jesus displayed for you on the cross. "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." New Hope is one beggar telling another, where to find bread. FIND OUT HOW MUCH JESUS LOVES YOU

# 3 - Vision Driven - "Where there is no vision, the people perish."

New Hope is a relatively young church, but God has blessed us with a wonderful property, building, tools, and vision to serve His kingdom. "The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest." There is room for you to SERVE here at New Hope! Ministry evolves out of the gifts and talents God has given us. We are striving to do His will with our current gifts and talents, but maybe God has placed on your heart to fulfill a ministry need that New Hope has yet to reach or hit it's full potential.

# 4 - Family Atmosphere - "Household of Faith"

The Bible is full of terms, references, and analogies of how the church ( a gathering of Christian believers) RELATES TO THE TERM FAMILY. This couldn't be more eloquently spoken than when Jesus said " By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. " - John 13:35 . Here at New Hope , we ARE a FAMILY. We share in each others joy and we share in each others pain. We look forward to being with each other. We know when even our own families, friends, and acquaintances are no where to be found, that we can count on our Sisters & Brothers in Christ. And if your new to us, you will feel this truth the moment you hit those doors.
